Has anyone heard of Natalizumab, or have tried it?

Just curious, it seems that after I have my baby this will be the next step to try. I've already been on Humira, Remicaid, and most of the standard oral meds without a whole lot of help.

Thanks for the link! I have done a lot of reading on it. Doc brought it up about 8 or so months ago, but when i found out I was pregnant it had to be put on hold.

I was just wondering if anyone has taken it or about to take it :0)

I haven't taken it, nor have I heard of it. It looked like a similar word ending to Remicade and Humira (generic) so I was interested in knowing more about it.
Turns out it is better known as the brand name Tysabri. If you do a search for Tysabri on here, you will find some discussion about it.
The only thing I remember offhand is that it can cause fatal brain infections, and most people on here won't even go near it because of that.
I hope your pregnancy is treating you well.

I am scheduled to start tysabri next week and it is very scary. I work with a neurologist that uses tysabri for his ms patients and they have done very well. The information I have received for the treatment of crohns from my gi is that it has helped patients the only problem is there are not that many as several are scared of the side effects. This is a last option for me before a second resection and I was willing to try for three months. If there is no improvement after three months they discontinue the medication. I hope this helps a little but this is a very hard personal choice and ii wish you the best.

I hope you do well on it! Keep us updated!

I'm due to have my baby here in about 5 weeks. My GI really wants me to go on it after I have the baby. It's kind of a last resort for me right now as well. I've tried everything and my terminal ileum just won't heal up. I was suppose to start it back in October, but obviously when he found out I was pregnant it was pretty much a no go.

I do remember him telling me that the risk of the fatal brain infection with a person who has Crohn's disease is so low. He hadn't heard of anyone that was on it that has Crohn's that had gotten the infection. So hopefully that is true. It is scary! You just never know with these drugs. I remember being scared to death back when I started Remicade when I was 15, I was the youngest one around my area to start taking it.

I really hope you do well Mark, you'll have to let us know! Good luck!
