Does anyone use any vitamins/supplements that have helped?? I have mild Crohn's...only taking Entocort 6mg and fish oil daily.

Hi,

The only supplements that I take are iron and calcium (for obvious reasons). I also see a naturopath who gives me herbal remedies to support my body and help with side effects of medication. I take homeopathic medicine (drops) to work on the auto immune response and I've seen a kinesiologist.

I don't know exactly what is working for me but I try to attack this thing from all angles (medication, herbal remedies, massage, vitamin supplements, emotional well being, meditation, yoga etc). I think all these things help in their own way.

Don't know if that's exactly what you were asking but hope it helps in some way!

i have Vit B12 injections 3 monthly, also take Calcium & Vit D. quite often put myself on pre/pro-biotic yoghurt drinks, especially during antibiotic courses.

Thanks for all of your ideas!! I have mild crohn's right now and I am trying to keep it that way!!!!!!!!!

I take massive amount of Vitamin C all times of the year, seems to work im never sick :), cause when you get sick with crohns, its so much worse then just being sick

I used Turmeric, Ginger and Krill Oil to control my Crohn's before I was using my current method.

I still take all three, but mostly for other benefits, and I no longer use large doses since it is not needed. You have to use fairly large dosages of the Turmeric and Ginger to suppress inflammation. I used 3000 mg of each in two doses a day of 1500 mg.

Both of these are antibacterial, antiinflammatory, and have so many other benefits that there are books dedicated to the subject.

Turmeric and Ginger also thin the blood slightly so check with your doctor before using larger doses.

supplements

My son is 13 has mild Crohns. He takes fish oil, 6 a day. L Glutemine powder in the AM, Permability factor 3 a daym, which is gut healing something, vitamins, and a probiotic pill.. Flora something two a day. And calcium. He is also on Imuran. I think it is all the natural stuff that is allowing him to do so well righ tnow. Still finding it hard to gain weight.

I've taken a lot of different supplements over the years. It seems as my body and hormones change different things work better at times.
I am on green barley and fish oil and flora.
They seem to help a lot.

Being that my mother in law is Homeopathic, I don't
think there is anything that I HAVEN't tried.
So far, nothing has seemed to do anything, symptom or pain
wise for me.

Oregano Oil kills fungus, which may help. I am not sure of the concentration of the plant itself, or what, if any, effect it could have.

Not familiar with the mushrooms.

I started taken acia berry for mine I just went and purchased my 3rd bottle today. So its been two months on it and its working better than most medications i have been on for crohns. I have had it for almost 7 years now and taken all kinds of medications for it. Has never went in to remision on me, but when I was pregnant, after having my little girl its flared up bad, put back on predisone not something I wanted to take after have a kid so I took my self off after about two months went with nothing at all. But this stuff works for me I feel I need to tell everyone with it. It also has made me loose about 10 pounds :)

Glad it has helped you!
But it is also a reason many Crohnies should NOT take it. Most people
with Crohns have trouble absorbing nutrients, hence making them lose
a lot of weight. If I lost 10 pounds, I would be back on a feeding tube.
Just a heads up for anyone thinking of using acia berry (which is the current
fad for weight loss supplements)
