My son was diagnosed today after MRI and colonoscopy. He had abscess, fissures, and fistula. He has a seton. His ilieum has minimal inflammation. He is 21 years old and in college. We are just starting to investigate top doctors in New York and to wrap our arms around what this all means for him long term. As we assemble a team, we want to include a naturopath. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your son.
I don't know of any out there.
I know most belong to an National Group but I forget the name of it.
Grace's doc is a MD/ND. She's wonderful. I'll look for her card and see what it's called.

I am so new to all of the information out there. My son has no symptoms except for what I noted above. No diarrhea, no stomach pain, no weight loss, etc. Is it likely that he will experience all of that? He is extremely sensitive to all medication. What if he doesn't want to do conventional medicine?

I haven't heard of any...but wanted to chime in that I research everything and bring it to our peds GI, who is fantastically open minded and supports most of what we do (including EN via NG, chiropractic, accupuncture, yoga, probiotics, diet modification and yoga). We could probably get more ideas for unconventional treatment from a ND, but...just a thought!

I think you will find a lot of chiropractors who also "specialize" in naturo. We saw one early on in my son's dx phase. My son still takes some of the supplements this guy recommended. Many of them are just natural forms of commonly recommended vitamin supplements anyway. I figure the more natural the better!!

Noguts, my daughter visited a chiropractor and ironically, at 5 years old, her spine was out of joint at the level of the nerves that are associated with the colon. Putting her back in place may not have "cured" her, but I don't dismiss natural remedies! Our chiro was all natural, and while I am not willing to follow all of her remedies, I respect her education and reasoning behind the theories.

I certainly believe in a holistic approach and you never know what's connected to what but her area of expertise lies in being a chiropractor not a GI. I'm not saying not to listen to her, just exercise caution. Glad your daughter is doing better.
