I am looking for opinions and info from people who might have taken this route in the past...or if you just have an opinion, Id love to hear it.
There is a "Natural Path Healing Clinic" in my area where a PHd of natural medicine uses testing called the CEDSA exam to treat folks. (Computerized Electro Dermal Stress Analysis)
I went to talk to the Dr. there, but just don't know how I really feel about it?
I have a friend with a bad case of Colitis who went yesterday for testing, butI want to hear from Chronies about experiences with this...
Thanks for the input as always!

I have a Naturopath only because she happens to also be my
mother in law. I use herbal remedies in addition to my meds, but
after trying nearly EVERYTHING she could throw at me, it is my personal
opinion that they are great in addition to meds, but not a replacement
for them. They can probably help you out a lot, the energy work can be
great, but just don't set your expectations too high. It is no cure
for Crohn's, that's for sure!

i agree with what mini said. the benefits of natural therapies can be good, but definitly cant be depended on completely. especially if your flaring bad.
ive tried things like reiki, healing imagery, and natural diet. the best benefit i think is the stress reduction from the healing imagery for example. did it heal me? absolutley not. but stuff like that forces you to relax your mind and body and focus on just one objective. and there is definitly a proven mind/gut connection.
i think that a combo of both approaches is best. but im still searching for the right combo myself!

I went to one a couple of months ago. His diagnosis involved using an EAV diagnostic machine. Whether it works or not I cannot determine. The Remedy he gave my wife for Lyme worked quite well. It actually worked as good as any other treatment we have used and was not harsh in any way.

That does not necessarily mean the diagnostics worked, because we had already discussed the disease before he tested. The problem she did have after using the remedy for a while was the amount of Alcohol it has in it. She is supposed to hold it under her tongue for a minute. This normally is not a problem but she started getting Thrush from all the bacterial kill off in her mouth.

I also got a homeopathic remedy. I cannot tell if it is doing anything. Mainly because I have no symptoms to resolve. He did tell me it would clear up my Psoriasis, but I have no evidence that is happening yet. I am about half way through the bottle, so we will see if I get any results by the time it ia gone.

I guess if his testing actually works, then I do like the way he treats the disease by going after the bacteria he thinks are responsible. But none of that means anything if the testing is inaccurate. All I can tell for sure is that the homeopathic Lyme Remedy works well. I cannot verify anything else.

I personally practice reiki on myself and on other friends/ patients when I was in the hospital for people that saw me doing it for my mother in law (with leukemia)...I find this like those above to be of added benefit and certainly not a replacement for any meds. I take 6 different prescription meds and then the remicade infusion. :) But the reiki helps take some edge off sometimes..

ALright...Lets throw this one out there...
The Naturo-path said that is needed a Parasite/colon cleanse?
Would we say that is SAFE for someone with "delicate" guts?

nooooo. my gut reaction is that that is a very very bad idea. no pun intended there.
i mean i really dont know about this kind of stuff, but. just no. crohns + parasites cannot be good.

I suppose if you have parasites, and most of use probably have some, then it would make sense. If the cleanse addresses bacteria that is negatively affecting us then it also makes sense.

I had tapeworms that I was not aware of. Not the big ones you normally think of, but the kind you can get from an animal with fleas. Those were visable parasites, and I am sure most are much smaller than that.

I killed them and likely much of the bad bacteria using a rather harsh chemical product. I did remove my remaining symptoms doing it.

Most of your immune system resides in the intestinal tract so that would be a logical place to improve. Of course none of that means they can do what they are proposing. But, it does not mean they cannot either.

I tried a colon cleanse, and I think thats partly what sent me into
my recent flare. I wouldn't recommend it for Crohnies.

I have really enjoyed meeting with my naturopath and think they can provide great complimentary therapies in addition to traditional medicine.

My naturopath has suggested supplements and for some things she asked me to talk to my gastro prior to administering them. She hasn't pushed any cleanses or strange therapies on me but suggested some supplements and physical things to do to help myself heal. In our first meeting we talked extensively about my medical history and she had me complete a food journal for a whole week. On her recommendation I also did food sensitivity testing and I'm just getting ready to start my elimination diet.

I think it's just like any doctor - you need to try and find someone you mesh with and whose ideals you can see yourself aligning with.
