Does anyone ever suffer both of these together plus abdominal pain and tenderness? I started feeling very sick yesterday on my way home from work about 5pm and by the time I got in the house, I was only fit for bed, but as soon as I lay down, my back started aching. I stayed in bed for a little while, got up and felt a bit less sick so had a little bit to eat then took some tramadol for the pain before falling asleep again for another hour until I was woken up with night sweats (the night sweats have been happening for a while, I'm guessing probably from the steroids)

I get both at once for a few minutes at a time. It's like the pain starts in my belly and radiates to my back and up my spine - really uncomfortable, you end up not knowing what position to be in... I usually end up writhing around on the bed for a few minutes like a possessed woman, lol.

I have noticed the backache pain has got worse since I started Prednisolone. Maybe it's a side-effect?

Feel your pain with the night sweats too. So many cold wet mornings, so much laundry. Uggghhh.

Hi Amanda. Sorry to hear you are flaring and having these symptoms :-( They pretty much echo mine when I first became ill and before I was diagnosed. How long have you been on your current course of Pred? Just asking because I got quite a lot of relief with the Pred when I first started on it.
I was pretty much glued to my hot water bottle for a long time as it was the best cure for the back and stomach pain. I doubt it aggravated the night sweats cos I'd wake up with them long after the bottle had cooled.

Hi Helen i was put on 40mg of pred at the end of November then they switched it to budesonide a month later but this made things worse so currently been back on pred for just under 4 weeks. They've kept my bleeding and diarrhea under control which is good, just wish this nausea would jog on! Lol

It might be worth mentioning the nausea to your GP or GI. I was prescribed Omeprazole by a hospital pharmacist to 'protect your stomach' from the steroid.

Strangely enough, I started Omeprazole on Saturday that was prescribed by my IBD nurse as I was getting a lot of excess stomach acid from the steroids. Still got backache but not feeling sick this morning which is good :)

Good news on the nausea front. Honestly, it is so hard sometimes to work out if symptoms are from the disease or a side effect of the meds :-(
