Well it's surgery week, Wednesday is nearly here. Poor boy is so excited, I had to at least warn him it might not work.
I cannot wait till it's time. I feel like I'm giving myself an ulcer worrying about him getting a cold/cough before it. There are so many bugs going about and I feel sniffly and tired, so trying not to get too close. After waiting so long for a date, I would hate to have to cancel it because he caught a bug. I am truly a nervous wreck! :(
Does anyone know if you can still have an operation if you have a cold?

Sending lots of luck your way!!! I hope all goes smoothly and is a great success!! Will be thinking of you on Wednesday! :D

I hope it all goes well and works for him! I'm not sure about having surgery if you have a cold, I'm sure someone will be along shortly that can answer that for ya! I'll be thinking of you guys on Wednesday!

Thanks everyone. Just getting bag packed and the kids bathed. Had the whole family round tonight to wish him luck, so a bit behind schedule!
Willowcat - not sure how long the surgery is. Mr Walker has never done it before, so he couldn't really give me an answer. I hope it's no more than an hour.

Well it's all done. The surgeon was happy with the end result. The operation took about an hour and we were told he would have a neve block in his bottom so he would be comfortable when he woke. Well the block never worked and the poor boy was in agony! :( it was so hard to watch, my heart was breaking. Of course the nurses never expected him to be in so much pain, so had nothing prepared and were all really busy and slow. It took 3 hours to get proper pain relief sorted but by that time it had eased off!! I was really unhappy that he was left like that.
That is us home though and I am hoping to actually get some sleep tonight. So tired! Andrew has been fairly comfortable during today but the pain is building up. He has a lot of blood when going for a poo, hope that is normal - no idea. Thanks for all the well wishes.

Sending thoughts and prayers for quick healing!!!! Surgeries involving the bottom area are very painful. I hope he is doing better. Did they tell him to apply ice or anything? Ice really helps if he is allowed to use it.

Hope you're all sleeping well now! And great news that the surgeon felt all went well! :applause: HOpe his recovery is quick! :)

Andrew is doing okay today. Tired and bored. I tried buying a new ps3 game, so I gave him a choice of 3 (patting myself on the back for being an awesome mom ). Ended up he didn't like any of them, so he got all depressed :ybatty:. Oh well, suppose he's still irritable and tired after the op, so will let him act up for a couple days.

So sorry I am late to this Sascot. :(

Good to hear the surgery but I am sorry to hear that his post op pain management wasn’t dealt with much better. How awful for you both. :ghug:

Are things better today?

Dusty. xxx

Andrew is fine unless he has to do the toilet - then it hurts for a while after. He is on 20ml of lactulose a day and Flagyl for 6 weeks. Must remember to buy some probiotic yoghurts to give him.

Feel like having a moan - sorry! Tired and grumpy today. Andrew just doesn't seem himself and my husband and I are having one of those days thinking 'he's going to have to go through things like this his whole life' and 'when he gets a girlfriend, she is going to have to be very understanding and not squeamish'.
It's freaking me out - there was a lump of something - really not sure what it was stuck right in the crease of his bottom. I tried to get it out, but I am worried it might be attached to something so don't want to pull too hard, plus he was freaked about it and didn't want me to do anything with it. :( Now all I can think about is, is it the plug? Has the plug fallen out, although it seems to have dark fibres through it and I'm sure the plug is white. Aaaaah, just hate having something else to worry about. Would hate for him to have gone through all this for it not to work.
Oh well, I'm going to try to go to bed now and stop thinking long enough to fall asleep!

Could it be that silver packing they use Sascot as something is making me think that goes a dark colour? Hope Andrew is feeling better as each day goes on, its awful seeing them in discomfort and its awful for us parents too as we just want to take it all away for them. Thinking of you all. xx
