1998,2001,2003 I had IG bleed no pain but last time I had to have 2 units of blood. In 2004 was diag. with RA then three weeks ago had severe abdominal pain started on Friday, Monday diarrhea started and by Wed. I could'nt take it any longer I went to the doctor and had a ct scane It showed a mass. Thuresday they sent me to the digestive health doctors.I was set up to have a colonoscopy on Tuesday ,but by Monday I started to bleed filling the tolet up my blood count went down and my white count is up. They sent me to the hospital did the colonoscopy put me on two types of antibiotics, the hole right side of the colon has ulcers and inflamation. Right now they aren't sure whats going on because I'm on Enbrel for RA so thay don't understand it . I have fever ,cold chills and night sweats. These things have slowed down after they put me on prednisone anddicyclomine and vit with iron. I'm waiting on more blood test to come back:(

Some of your symptoms match the side effects of Embrel. I do not know much about this drug, but from what I have heard from the people that use it, is not very positive. You will have to research it further, but I have not yet run across someone who has had good results from this drug. No matter what it has been used for. Having said that, I have only heard from a handful of people using it.

Here are some of the listed side effects:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); butterfly rash (rash on nose and cheeks); chest pain or discomfort; decreased mental alertness; fast heartbeat; fever, chills, or sore throat; general feeling of being unwell; mental or mood changes; new or worsening cough; numbness or tingling throughout your body; rapid breathing; rash on your face and arms that gets worse in the sun; seizures; shortness of breath; swelling of arms or legs; swelling of the lymph nodes; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual lumps; unusual nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or diarrhea; unusual tiredness; vision problems; weakness in arms or legs.

I hope they can figure out what the bleeding is all about. I dread it when I see blood in the toilet. I hope I do not see it ever again.

Good Luck.

Dan

hi Catann and welcome. heck, i hope they can abate your symptoms quickly! i know it is scary when we pass blood, and to see such an amount must be very worrying indeed. from Dan's drug reaction info, it could well be the medication that's causing a lot of what you're going through. good luck with the blood tests and everything.. let us know how you get on.
