Hi All,
I had Incision and drainage of a large ischiorectal abscess on Friday. They sent me home on Saturday with a penrose drain insitu and I was happy to change my own combine dressings. There was never any mention of the wound being packed from anyone. Today I was washing and drying and found that the wound actually IS packed.
What do I do? no one organised nurses for dressings. I didn't know I needed dressings. Do I go to the Emergency department? It's been 4days - surely its not good for the packing to stay in too long?
I'm feeling a bit scared and very down in the dumps. I rang the hospital for advice and they said they would call me back, but haven't yet.
Anyone had the same procedure and got any advice for me?
