Hello, i just happened to find this forum today. My name is melissajane and i'm 18 and have had crohns disease for 4 years, only been made aware for a year and so far i've been put on every medication from oral steroids to apriso, asacol, etc. this past week i've been so weak my hands shake from picking up a t-shirt and i promise i'm not exaggerating. I've had non-stop diarrhea (in the bathroom about every 30 minutes-1 hour), with minimal blood but my food isn't fully digested and i can tell from checking the stool, i'm losing color, and i can't keep foods that normally don't bother me at all down. I'm nauseated today and before my stomach was swelling 2 inches past my normal waistband, and i've had pain so severe i can't sleep. I don't know what to do, i see an arnold palmer specialist but he's booked for 2 months and my Internalist can't really seem to aid that much. I don't have anyone to talk to, my doctor can never seem to return my calls, and i feel like the life is going out of me. I don't know if i should go to a hospital or not, or what i'm even supposed to say to them or what to ask for if i do, please respond :/

Hello Melissajane. I say go to the hospital. Tell them what you just told us. They can do a Ct scan and find out what's going on with you. At the very least they will give you something for the pain and nausea. Please keep me posted. Hope you feel better soon .

You should go to the hospital and tell them exactly what you told us, they'll handle things from there. A bunch of well meaning internet strangers aren't going to be anywhere near as helpful as a doctor.

I'd say that hospital is a good way to go! Please get yourself looked at and keep us updated on how you're doing. Wish I had a better way to welcome you to the forum. But, we're all here for you.

Hello, welcome to the forum, I'm afraid I must agree with the others , generally we say that if you're thinking about going to the hospital then it's probably time to go. I know they aren't fun places, but it sounds like you really need to get some help. At the very least you'll probably be getting dehydrated, and they can get you on some IV fluids to combat that, which in itself could make you feel a lot better.

They'll also be able to get you on something for the pain and nausea, and they'll be able to do some investigations to see what's going on which will help them find the best way to treat you.

Please keep us posted on how your doing and remember that we're all here to support you through this.

It's been a few days now, so I was just wondering how things have been for you? Did you go to the hospital in the end? If so what did they do for you? I'm hoping you are now feeling much better.
