Hey I hope I'm putting this in the right part of the form.
I'm doing a speech proposal for a class project. I have to present a speech about something I feel strongly about, so I thought Crohns would be a good subject. I am still on the road to a diagnosis but I do have a couple family members that suffer from this. I have tons of info on Crohns but I was hoping some of you might have some input. What do you think are some of the most important things I should put in my speech to inform people about crohns?

My thinking is there is not enough awareness of the disease and most people have no idea what it is until they have it or experience it from a family member. Some people even think it is contagious, which leads to ignorance in my experiences. Good luck, ask any questions , maybe someone can help you more.

There's a thread on here about 'things you'd wished you'd known' or something like that. It's got tips and advice from people, but I can't find it!
That thread might help you. Someone else will find it

i think there is something to the whole invisible vs. invisible illness thing. If they could see a cast on my arm - people would register that it hurts and Im in pain... but because it is the insides, they dont register.. and don't understand. I think if people could actually see it - they would stop telling me to just eat more fibre.
good luck on your project :D

I think the mind-gut connection is one of the most important aspects of IBD. Stress can greatly affect the gut. And conditions with the gut can greatly impact mental health.

Good luck with your project!
