Nervous about GI appointment

I’m in the middle of a pretty horrible flare right now (hit my all-time high of 30 BMs on Sunday!). I was just diagnosed in September and was doing pretty well until around Christmas and then began to gradually feel worse until everything just turned to shit (pun intended) over the past week or so. I’ve been having almost constant pain to right of my navel, where I had my resection done in 2010 for colon cancer. My Crohn’s is in my ileum and colon. I did a stool sample which showed no infection and I’ve been in touch with my GI and he said I should start a course of steroids if the sample came back ok. So I figured today he’d call in a prescription and I’d be ready to go. Instead he wants me to come in at 8 am on Thursday and I am really, really nervous. I mean PROBABLY all that is going to happen is that we’ll talk about this flare and prednisone and how to tackle things but with my history I have never had anything good happen when a doctor gets in touch with ME to come in for an appointment. Usually you’re begging to be seen.

Anyway, just nervous and an in pain and ready to start on any protocol that will possibly make me feel better.

Maybe they just want to talk about doing some more testing. Sorry you aren't doing well right now and that you've been through so much already. Are you on any medications at the moment? Maybe your GI wants to talk medication options besides steroids. For now you could write down all your symptoms and questions so you can be ready for your appointment. I hope it goes well and please keep us posted. :)

I'm sorry, starsandbucks. :( It really is hard not to get worried, isn't it?

I think you're right and they most likely just want to discuss how you're feeling (to have it all neatly in their records) and the Pred. Or, like Crabby said, they might want to go over medication options with you.

I hope things go well! Please let us know! :)
