I have been taking 150 mg of Azathioprine for about 7 months now. I have always gotten my blood tests on time, my AST and ALT liver levels were always a little high, but remained stable. My Dr. said this was not a big deal, and to continue with the Azathioprine.
Well a couple weeks ago I started itching, I inquired to my Dr. that could it possibly be from my liver (so I had read). He decided to order some tests. Well I got them back Saturday and my Actin Smooth Muscle Antibody was high. On the lab results, it say if Actin Smooth Muscle Antibody is about 30 (mine was 47), it is a strong indicator toward Autoimmune Hepatitis. This naturally freaked me out. My Dr. called me today and he wants me to get a special test to see how my body is metabolizing the Azathioprine and gh wants me to see a liver specialist. I am pretty nervous about this. I am hoping this all maybe caused by my Azathioprine and isnt anything else.
Does anyone on here have Autoimmune Hepatitis? Is it a big deal to have?
