Hello, I am so happy to have found this forum. This is the first time I've ever posted so hopefully I'm doing this right.

I have had Crohn's for 9 years now and have been through most medications. I am currently (for the last 6 years) on Remicade. I was in a world of hurt until I found the right doctor and medication. Anyways, my last colonoscopy showed that I have a stricture so my doctors pow-wowed and came up with surgery as the answer...a left hemi colectomy. My surgery is scheduled for this coming Friday, March 7th. Any tips, advise, or story of your recovery and feelings are greatly appreciated. I would also like to know what are some good items to take to the hospital for my stay?

Thanks in advance!
Corrina

Hello and welcome. I don't have experience with surgery but wanted to welcome you to the forum. You may want to post your questions on the surgery forum. I hope everything goes well with your surgery and wish you a speedy recovery. Let us know how it goes.

Welcome to the forum. I have had other surgeries for Crohn's but never a colectomy. Let us know how things go. Make sure you have stuff to read or puzzles.:)

Hi Corrina
A big welcome from me too and we're glad you found us. I'm sorry you have to have surgery, but understand that with stricturing, it is often necessary. If you have a look here you will find other forum members describing their surgery experiences.
I wish you all the best with it and hope it gives you good health as it has for me.
