Welcome, you came to a great place.
Were you experiencing symptoms that lead you to the diagnosis? Also, are you currently on any medications to keep the Crohn's under control?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I was also wondering what led to the diagnosis? Are you under the care now of a GI doc and have you been started on any meds?

Yes I had stomach aches and pains movements four to six times in two hour periods in the morning, I'm going to pick up my meds now it's some type of steroid that I have to take for six weeks, according to my GI doctor I have a very mild case and caught it at a good time but still is a concern to me one it's something I never thought could be an issue with me and two I suffer from anxiety disorder which I thought was causing all of my problems be cause anxiety does cause pretty much all of the symptoms. Luckily my doctor is very good and knew there was something underlying. Unfortunately both my primary and GI doctors are going on vacation for two weeks so I'm kind if left in the dark her about what this disease is and what I should do.

There is a lot of helpful info here so do have a good look around. You may find that if it is a mild case that this can be controlled by a mild maintainence med and some here find good results with diet, when you next see your doc it may be worth asking for a referral to a dietician so this could be looked at in more detail for you. As this time there is no cure for this disease but with the right treatment and monitoring it is possible to still lead a 'normal' life. Out if interest have you ever had any of your vitamin levels checked?

No I have not but I do feel better when I take a one a day multivitamin, but thank you for the tip I will ask about the diatcian, when I came down with anxiety my doctor told me to start taking vitamins high in niacin and magnesium instead of Zoloft and Ativan and it worked wonders I haven't hade a pannic episode in over a year so ill stick to the all natural route along with diet change

Glad to hear that you are under a doctor's care. Meeting with a dietician can help you choose foods that will be easy on your gi system. Depending where your disease is located you may be deficient in vitamins.
If I may ask, what tests did your dr do that led to the diagnosis of Crohn's?
And don't be afraid to ask things on the forum. Everyone here wants to provide help to those who need it.

First they did a couple blood tests then a colonoscopy then they went into my stomach with a tool they found an ulcer at the beginning of my small intestine and then I had to swallow a video capsule that's how they found out I guess it is located in my small intestine but I literally spoke with the dr for 3 min so I really don't know what's going on how severe and what I need to do he gave me meds and said he will see me in three weeks but I'm nervous about this condition I'm not going to let it rule my life I just need more information it sucks this all happened at Christmas when nobody is around

I feel for you Captscudd, when I was diagnosed not much was explained to me either. I've since learned quite a lot about Crohn's which makes the whole thing a lot less daunting and scary. Best of luck!

Youre going to be started on a dose of prednisone, which is an anti-inflammatory steroid as well as likely some sort of immuno-suppressant. The steroid will lower your body's response to the Crohn's and reduce the symptoms really quick, whereas the immuno-suppressant will hopefully help manage your disease in the long term! You're lucky your case is mild and hopefully you can get it under control easily and have that be the last of it! It's all about finding the medication regiment that your GI doc feels will work best for you. There are plenty of options, just takes some time to find the right one.

For now, you're certainly in the right place if you have any questions! :) The steroids are a nasty drug to be on long term and can have some gnarly side effects, but they're one of the most effective ways to quickly control your symptoms. If you have questions about steroids, medication options or what the future might bring, I've gone through it all in the past year and a half and would be more than happy to help! :) My case is really mild symptom-wise, too (although recently it sure hasn't seemed like it) so I can definitely relate. Reply here and let me know!
