Hello everyone...

I have been going through the site for a couple of days and doing some on-line research about Crohns.

I have not been diagnosed with this, but have questions...

I have been experiencing a lower right abdominal pain for several years. I have been to several Doctors (no gastro yet). I called to schedule an apointment this morning with a gastroenterologist? and am waiting for them to call me back...Also, I never have "normal" bowel movements and go 5-6 times a day. I am 22 years-old and lead an active life style. I am ~5'-9" and only weigh like 122lbs? I've been to several doctors and have been checked for hernia and appendicitus. Negative results there. I have had 2 kidney stones and thought that might be the cause, but again negative results. Up until this point I have been dealing with the abdominal pain normally 4-5 on a 10 scale. There have been instances where I experienced excrutiating pain that dropped me to my knees it hurt so bad...I've had problems gaining weight since sometime in high school as that's around the time I noticed everyone out growing me (even the really small kids).

Any opinions and advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks for reading.

Hi Brady
and welcome

That was the pain I had for years, lower right and excruciating, and tons of D, I ended up with a hysterectomy! then I screamed for a referral to gastro and had a colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy and endoscopy, they found Crohns in my terminal ileum.
I would defo keep the appt with gastro and get some tests done to rule out IBD
good luck and let us know how you get on
lotsa luv

Hi brady and :welcome:

I agree with Joan, keep your appointment with the Gastro doc and don't stop until you get some answers. I can't deny that your symptoms certainly sound like what many suffer with when they Ileal Crohns, my daughter included. You sound as if you are on top of things with what your symptoms are so write it all down over the time to your appointment. Include a description of your pain, the level of pain, what medication you take for it and if it works, any foods you may have noticed, if any, that make the symptoms worse, if you have a temperature, what your bowel motions are like and how often you go, your weight and the issues you have with it and any questions you can think of or other observations you have made, then take it to the appointment with you. This way you won't forget anything and often writing it down triggers the memory of the little things you may have overlooked because you have been dealing with it for so long.

I hope you stick around 'cause this is a great place for info and support and please keep us posted on how you go.

Welcome aboard!

All the best, :)
Dusty

Hi Brady and welcome!! My biggest hope for you is that you get some clear answers to what is causing your pain and D. So many struggle to get a diagnosis for these same problems. Good luck and stick around!!! Like Dusty says, write down everything!!
