Good Morning everyone!
I have been suffering with severe intestinal symptoms as well as debilitating upper abdominal pain on the right side for over 5 years. I had my gallbladder out in March of 2011 which did not improve my symptoms at all. My GI doc did every test under the sun and told me that he suspected Crohn's disease but there was no difinitive test that actually showed it. He thought about putting me on medication for it but because I have a history of a sulfa allergy told me I couldn't take it and in short told me there was nothing we could do. That was about 2 years ago.

At least 10 times a month I get intense and completely debilitating "attacks" on my upper right abdomen. It has taken me to the ER several times and each time they tell me that nothing is wrong. I have started to feel like maybe I'm just going crazy, but the pain and constant diarhea are very very real.

I decided to see a new GI doctor. I went last night and he went over all my test results from the old doctor from 2009-present. He stated that there was something going on in the ileum and based on that, my symptoms and some other notes on my old test reports, he suspects Crohn's. I am scheduled for a new colonoscopy on May 24th.

I am so tired of not feeling well all the time. I am a single mom of three little ones and no matter how I feel I still need to take care of them. It has been very hard and frustrating. Not that I want to have Crohn's but I am hoping that this next test will show something conclusive and that someone will be able to help me.

I'm looking forward to hearing everyones story and to learning more on this forum. Thanks for reading :)

Welcome to the forum, SmedleyG!

I'm glad you're seeing a new doctor! It doesn't sound like the last one was very proactive in finding you a diagnosis

Hopefully this new doctor will get you a diagnosis very soon. I absolutely understand what you mean about wanting a diagnosis - a diagnosis is the first step on the road feeling better. :) I really hope you can achieve that soon.

I'm really starting to think there are a lot of negiligent doctors out there! To tell a patient there are no definitive tests for Crohn's - that is ridiculous. I'm glad you hear you are seeing a new doctor, and that this one is being much more proactive and working to find you a diagnosis. At least then you will be able to treat appropriately. Keep us posted as to the findings.
