Hi all.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's May of this year. In late April I had the flu, I think. I was in bed for four days with body aches and fatigue. About a week later I developed Iritis in my left eye. About two weeks after that I started having slimy diarrhea and then came the fissure/Hemorrhoids:yrolleyes: I was then scoped, biopsied and x-rayed (small bowel) and finally diagnosed with Crohn's.

I didn't experience much stomach pain. Nor did I ever have to go to the bathroom more than four times a day which I feel very fortunate about after reading some of the stories in this Forum. I did however lose 50lbs.

Having to come to grips with the reality of chronic illness when you've been healthy your whole life isn't easy. Luckily I have a good support system.

Anyway I just wanted to tell my story and hopefully contribute to this site.

Thx.

Hi DBB and welcome to the community! Thanks for joining and sharing your story.

What medication do they have you on right now?

Have they tested your vitamin B12 and vitamin D levels? With what you describe, I wonder if you might be deficient, especially since it's very common for people with Crohn's to be deficient in those.

Again, welcome!

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

It's good to see that your docs were on the ball and got you a diagnosis so quickly. I was also wondering what meds you have now been started on? How are you feeling now?

I am glad you have a good support system, that is very important with a disease like this, there is also plenty of helpful info here so do have a good look around.

At the moment I'm not taking any meds for Crohns. I was taking Asacol but I met with a specialist yesterday and he told me to stop. He will be starting me on Remicade shortly.

I'm not sure about the vitamin B12 and D levels. I had blood taken yesterday and was told they would be checked.

I'm feeling ok at the moment. I had an abscess/fistula drained yesterday. That was starting to get a bit uncomfortable. It's still bleeding a bit.
