Hi. Well just as I thought my UC was getting back under control for the 1st time since Feb of this year, I've woken up this morning with really bad pain on my right side. It's been on/off for a few days now, but my pain is usually always left side. I had lunch yesterday at about 2pm and was still bloated/full when I went to bed last night - went to brush my teeth and what looked like half my lunch came back to meet me (sorry, sounds gross, and didn't mix too well with toothpaste!). So right now, I have right side pain, bloated and vomitting. No temp as yet, and hoping that the paracetamol I've taken will keep one at bay, no D and just able to pass a little wind with out crying. These symptoms are different to the usual flare with UC, so am guessing it may just be a tummy bug...
Any suggestions greatfully appreciated,
Andrea x

Hi Welsh-bird,

I have Crohn's colitis, and I've only really had one big flare, and at that time my whole entire stomach was cramping, so I can't really give you advice on what is going on, unfortunately. But it sounds like you are in great pain. :( I hope it goes away quickly!

Could it be that the inflammation has gone to the right side of your colon, too? Are you on any meds now? If so, I guess you should pay a visit to your doctor and tell him what is going on, in order to get you on different medication or up your dose of Prednisone or something.

Really hope you feel better soon!

xoxo

Hiya Andrea

I hope it's a tummy bug too! Give it 24 hours, that's all!
I ignored mine for 5 days, then it was an ambulance job to A&E!
Gastro told me vomiting is a sure sign of blockage or obstruction, it's go no-where to go, only up and out! And explosive diarrhea as well!
Keep your eye on this Andrea, check your temp, if it's high, go to hospital, infection had set in with me, cos I ignored it, my CRP was 261, temp was 102
let us know how you are

Hi Sophia- thanks so much for replying. My UC has been diagnosed as Pancolitis so the whole colon is now diseased. Have managed to get an emergency apt tomorrow morning with my consultant. Yes taking bucket loads of meds to try and get this flare under control, but for some reason this doesn't feel like the 'usual' UC symptoms. Hope you are well.

Hi Joan. Thanks for the warning, wasn't something I had considered. Couldn't sleep last night, finding it difficult to lie down, the pain seems to come in waves, followed by the vomitting. Still no D today, but had really bad night sweats last night and a temp of 38.8 This is all new to me, in the 11 years I've been diagnosed, never had any of this. Off to see the Gastro in the morning, another fight over Inliximab coming up - surely these new symptoms will be enough to warrant using it? Hope you have a good day, and are well. Thanks again,
And xxx

Good Luck Andrea!
Do us a favour and chuck up on his floor will ya!

From your symptoms of last night, this was me too, I couldn't lie down neither! It came in waves, rather like contractions, and didn't ease when I puked neither, very high temp and sweating all night too, if you're like this in the morning, get him to palpate your tummy, and if he has to scrape you off the ceiling, you're blocked!!
hope you have a restful night
And thanks, I'm doing well at the mo!

Hmm, I hate to say this, but your symptoms match my most recent saga - a kidney stone. If you start having back pain on the right side in addition to abdominal pain and side pain, get in the hospital! Kidney stone pain comes in waves, they peak and fall and get closer and closer together. Crohn's patients are more likely to get stones as well, I was told at the hospital. If you can manage the pain at home and you have no temp, good for you! I unfortunately couldn't. Maybe it is just a bug though! Just keep an eye out for intense back pain.
