She is on an antibiotic and probiotic (started Monday) and now she has red splotches on her arms. What could it be?

My guess would be an allergic reaction as well. What antibiotic is it?

Also, you know not to take the probiotic and antibiotic at the same time, right? At least two hours apart, preferably longer.

Sounds like an allergic reaction, you don't always have a reaction the first time you have something.

I didn't know about spreading out the medicines. The red spots are now on her legs. GI was not too concerned since there were no other symptoms. They now remind me of eczema hives.

Hmmm. May call pediatrician in morning to seemed thoughts. Will delay antibiotic and probiotic for time being.

Are you able to take a pic?
For stuff like this with Grace we also call the allergist and or the dermatologist.
I hope it's gets figured out soon.
Did you ask your doc about stopping the meds? The reason I ask is if it's the antibiotics you would want to know. That way it could be charted that she has an allergy to it.
What was the brand of probiotic?

My husband suggested the same thing - taking a photo. We are out of town so it complicates matters. I gave her Phillips probiotic b/c it was one she could swallow and does not contain milk. She tried culturelle chewable so but could not deal with the taste.

Thank you all so much for your support and help!!!

Even if you've had it before, antibiotics can create a new allergic reaction. I'd have her seen as soon as you can. Can you stop the antibiotic in the meantime?

No. We stopped antibiotic and probiotic but rash has not disappeared. She was very itchy last night. We started allergy medicine to see if that would bring some comfort. We are out of town so it makes things more challenging.
