Hi All,
I cannot believe I am just joining a Crohn's support system now. I was diagnosed over 20 years ago when I was in high school. I have been fortunate to never have had surgery for Crohn's, just plenty of assorted 'oscopy's. :) I have been able to manage with moderation in both diet and exercise and the convenience of being a stay-at-home mom for the majority of these 20 years. Now, I am finding that my usual bag of tricks is making me unhealthy in other ways. Subsiding all these years on a high carb diet and moderate 5 day/week workouts has caught up to me. Suspecting that being almost 40 is contributing, I need to find another way to eat. Hoping for tips from those who have attempted to lose weight while living with Crohn's. Thank you!

Rett,

Welcome to the forum. You will find some great ideas for diets here.
One that come to mind first is Gianni, one of the members who gives great juicing recipes.

It is good to hear you have managed your Crohns all of these years with diet and exercise.

check out the different topics on our Wiki site.

Wish you the best and keep us informed of how your diet is going.

Just a quick greeting to say hello, as I'm also new here. Unlike you, however, I am not just a new forum member but newly diagnosed. Anyway, great to hear you have managed to avoid surgeries for 20 years!

Hey there Rett and welcome to the community :)

When you say that your diet and lifestyle have led to being healthy in other ways, could you elaborate on that a little? That may help us point you in the right direction.

All my best to you.

I was diagnosed about 26 years ago. I have tried to lose weight with the standard weight loss strategies, eating more fruits/vegetables, whole grains, etc. and ended up with an obstruction. So I wouldn't recommend that. There is a lot of good advice here.

Welcome!
