So, when I was in middle school I wld get terrible bouts with constipation. I wld miss school b/c I had stayed up all night on the toilet. This lasted until I was 22 or so. One doc told me that i wld prob ne on stool softeners for the rest of my life.

After a few months of unpleasant tests feom one end of my body to another, they wers pretty sure I had Crohn's, bit I was still constipated. I did end up getting my gallbladder removed.

I did good for a while. If good is chronic constipation and constant stomach aches with the occasional mausea.

Then came my sisters wedding along with the worst stomach pains of my life! I put on a happy face for her and only my mom knew how much pain I was really in! Two days later i was in the ER and had a bowel resection which included my appendix. It was the most painful, scarriest thing that has happened to me. I was lucky that my family was there and took good care of me. My dad works at that hospital, so that helped a lot!

I live almost 900 miles away from most of my family. This, coupled with what I deal with on a regular basis, has made me suffer from bouts of anxiefy and depression. I'm a teacher, which is stressful as u can imagine. This stress causes my flare ups and I don't have a good way to deal with that yet. Any suggestions??

Currently I'm waiting to get in to a new GI. I have diahrrea all day every day. I take Immodium 2-3 times a day right now. I'm nautious a lot and I've lost a lot of my appetite (which never happens! Lol). Any ideaa what can help while I wait? I'm on a multivitamin, Prevacid, ginger root (for nausea), and immodium.

Any ideas/suggestions r very welcome! Dealing with my anxiety, depression, and especially the stress is really hard to deal with. It sux being by myself too.

Hi there and welcome to the community :)

Please take no offense to this, but my finding is that if you utilize proper spelling, you'll get more responses. People that read a lot of posts here tend to skip over those that are hard to read.

With that said, my suggestion would be to research enteral nutrition. It's an excellent treatment option for IBD.

I hope you feel better soon!

I would suggest seeking therapy or counseling for your anxiety/depression. I am in the mental health field, and I deal with tons of people who are experiencing these feelings. It seems that you don't have much of a support system where you are. I think talking to someone could really help relieve some stress. I also think you should express your concerns to your GI doctor and maybe look into alternative treatments.

Welcome. Stress is a killer in more ways than one. Get some counselling if you can. Breathe. In through the nose for a count of 4, hold for 7, out for 8. When stressed we tend to breathe shallow or hold it unconciously which leads to anxiety and more stress. Get outside for at least 1/2 hour everyday, say hi to the clerk at your local store, go to the library, anything to help get yourself out of your headspace, if only temporarily. It works. List 5 things you are grateful for every day, this takes some practise, but it gets easier with time. Look for some intestinal rejuvination formula from the health food store, it may help with the loose bowels. Hope you find relief soon.
