I am so happy to have found this forum!!!!

I was diagnosed this year with Crohns and Colitis. I am 48 yrs old and have suffered my whole life with abdominal pain. Last year I got a what I thought was a nasty stomach flu. I had D and vomiting with extreme abdominal pain for about a week. I kept thinking it would get better. NOT, I soon had chills , my sight got weird, the stomach pains got worse. I couldn't even keep a glass of water down. My husband took me to our family Dr after alot of arguing. My family Dr thought it may be an appendicitice and sent me directly to the hospital. After blood tests and a CT scan I was put on IV and pain meds. 1 week later I was told I had just about died from my bowel leaking, I was full of infection from sepsis. It has been a long year since.

I have a fantastic GI Dr and he has done 3 colonoscopies and diagnosed me with Crohns and Colitis. The Dr has put me on Pentasa which I had a severe allergic reaction to. I am on pain meds right now and that's all.

It was good to read that I wasn't the only 1 suffering from all these weird symptoms, not that I am happy anyone has to go through this. I am always exhausted, stomach pain no matter what, joints hurt and lower back pain. So now atleast I know I'm not crazy!!!!!

I am feeling depressed right now, I feel like I may never get back into life.I would like to go back to work soon but I am feeling too exhausted to do that. I hate complaining all the time so when anyone asks how I am I just say "I am fine". I don't know that I will be fine ever again right now.

I see my GI on Oct 18 to get my blood work results( he tested my B12 level amoungst other things)

Anyhow thanks for letting me vent!! I look forward to reading all the information on this site.

Hello and welcome to the forum, I am sorry to hear that you are still not feeling well :(

Out of interest why has the doc not out you any further meds after you had problems with the Pentesa? Is it that a new treatment plan will be discussed when you see them on the 18th? I am glad to hear you B12 is being tested, a low level can contribute in part to how you are feeling at the moment - when you get the the result ask for the specific level and check it here.

There is a lot of helpful info and support here so do have a good look around and do not hesitate to arm yourself with a list of questions for the upcoming appt. Please keep us updated on how you get on.

I am also wondering if he has another medication in mind and why the waiting for it?

Many have been down in the dumps from this disease. It gets to most everyone eventually.
I am quite sure you will have better days ahead. It is an up and down type disease.

Feel free to vent or whatever here. We are here to help each other or just listen.

Hope you feel better soon.
