I got diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in April of 2011. I did not have any symptoms or anything until about mid-March of this year. It took the doctors a few weeks to diagnose me with Crohn's since the only symptom I was having was severe stomach pain (no diarrhea thank god!). After a few weeks of doctors being wrong (they thought I had apendicitis then celiac disease) and going to the emergency room twice, they finally diagnosed me.
I feel like I got the short end of the stick here. I don't smoke, I don't have a family history of bowel disease at all, and I'm not Jewish. I'm not really sure where this came from or why it just came out of nowhere. It's been a few months now and I've come to terms with it and have just been trying to be as proactive about it as possible with research, diet, etc. I mean thats the most we can do right?
I just feel very lucky that I am responding to the medication well and did not need surgery. Hopefully I will stay in remission and not need to go back into the hospital for any reason. Thanks for reading.
