Hi everyone,

I am totally new to this forum but not totally new to being someone who experiences bouts of crohns.
I am currently having a flare up after being free from crohns for the last 3 or 4years.
There are so many posts in this forum but I hope I can find some great advice and support through reading your posts and experiences.
My doctor had diagnosed me with crohns about 16 years ago ~ although my first bout, which went very undiagnosed, was when I was 20.
My past biopsys have come back inconclusive as to if it is crohns or ulcerative colitis but my doctor prefers to call it crohns as it has attacked my bowel like crohns and not colitis.
The IBD flarred up again about 2 weeks ago and I am off to the Doctors next week. I dont take any medication as I always think of my crohns to be mild , usually blood and mucus ~ although this time its pretty full on.

Hi Sue B and welcome to the forum! :D

Bleeding isn't really mild, more severe really and mucus is a sign of inflammation generally. Hope you get the treatment you need soon! I went med free once and never went that route again. Heard plenty of horror stories about going med free as well so I hope you find something that works for you. :)

Greetings Sue and welcome to the community! I'm glad you joined :)

What are your current symptoms?

When you flared in the past, would it go away on its own or would you take a short course of some sort of medication?

We're here for you. I hope they can get this flare controlled ASAP.

Hi and thanks,

I have never taken medication as I know my symptoms are so much more mild than what others with crohns experience. I wont even take a head ache tablet unless I was really desperate....I have never really been offered medication in the past either...and there has been flareups where I haven't even worried about going to the Drs. I am going this time as its been a few years since my last bout and I am probably overdue for a colonoscopy to see whats happening. I only have ever had crohns in the bowel and always the main symptom is bleeding, some mucus and more than normal wind.
I know its not nice to talk about but this is whats happening.
The symptoms are slowing down now and they usually heal of their own accord...generally somewhere between 3-9 months.

Thanks for the welcome,
Sue.

Hello Sue and welcome to the forum :)

It does sound like some up to date tests are most probably needed to see what is going on inside and to be honest I would not be surprised if you are told you need medication. Out of interest have you ever changed anything diet wise in the past when symptoms were occuring?
