I'm new to this forum, looking for comaraderie as my Crohn's keeps escalating. I'm a Crohnie who was diagnosed 5 years ago, but suffered through symptoms for at least 5 years before that. I always attributed it to stress...eventually a checkup long overdue revealed a WAAAAY low RBC. There was a history of colon cancer in my family, so docs order a colonoscopy just "as a precaution." Surprise! Crohn's disease dropped on me 5 minutes after I came out of anesthesia.
I have been blessed with an AMAZING GI doctor. At first, it was "mild." I was prescribed Pentasa, and that went OK. Then, a couple years later, I flared and ended up in the ER with a super high fever and distended abdomen. Entocort was next. Then, on my honeymoon, I doubled over in the worst pain of my life. My first partial bowel obstruction (I later learned). That was the first of 3 in the past year. My stricture is getting really severe, I'm now forming a fistula between bowel loops, and my doc has put me on Cimzia. I've got a wonderful, understanding husband, and a fantastic doctor, but at times I feel so helpless. So, I spend time peeking in on Crohn's sites. I figured it might be time to join in the conversation.
