Blood results back...ESR was 73 now down to 44.

Some iron test was low at 5.5....didn't quite hear what it was.

Everything else was good.

I don't understand how everything is better than it was 3 weeks ago yet she has pain, diarrhea and blood.....:frown: I just hope the flagyl starts working pretty quick. This time shes staying on it for 6 weeks.

While it is an improvement, an ESR of 44 is still at least twice the upper normal limit and is not "better" except int the sense that it is a single snap shot result trending the way you want it to go. Given her sx that is how I would be interpreting it. :(

As I think you have heard a lot on the forum, many CDers can have moderate to severe disease with very little evidence of the severity of their condition to be found in their blood work.

I'm sorry she's still in pain and having symptoms. I also hope the flagyl works quickly.

It's so hard to watch them suffer. :(
We also have had issues with bloodwork...it doesn't always parallel symptoms for us, which can be frustrating.
Hoping the flagyl works well and fast...and wishing for continued improvement in labs.

How are things going upsetmom?

Matt's bloods use to fluctuate quite a bit pre remission.

Hugs...
It is hard to watch...
You will get there it just takes time since the gut heals very slowly ( at a minimum 6 weeks) once you get the right drug. Sometimes even longer if there is a lot of damage.
We are here for you

With the low iron test you need to know which one. There are four test results shown with iron studies. There is one called iron and I believe range is 7-27. I understanding is this is least important result as a lot of people always sit outside the range. Ferritin is the most important one.

Just wanted to send a hug. Glad she is feeling a little better hopefully it continues as everyone else said. Is she taking an iron supplement?

Catherine ..the nurse told me she didn't have a previous test to compare it too so she'll ring me sometime this week....i'll ask which test it was

Kim ...no ones ever mentioned an iron supplement.

If no one has mentioned iron supplements, this should mean the ferritin is in normal range. It always good to monitor ferritin for changes.
