Hi, 45 yrs old recently diagnosed with crohns. Taking asacol. Dr did not find anything on my colonoscopy it was a blood test through Promethesus lab in california. It said I had 57 % of the antibodies that is in a person with crohns. Has anyone else only been diagnosed by a blood test? The asacol works for the most part. I only go 1-2 times a day. I am starting this week with passing the pill undigetsed and have been loose in the bathroom since??? Anyways just frustrated. I am fortunate not to have alot of pain associated with this. Is there a second opinion for a blood test???

Hi libo and :welcome:

I'm so sorry, your post seems to have slipped through the welcoming net!:redface::redface:

I don't know the answers to your questions but I'm sure someone will be along with far more knowledge than me!

I hope you find us again and stick around as there are heaps of friendly and experienced people here.

All the best and take care,
Dusty

Hi Libo and welcome!! After reading so many horror stories on here about those with no dx, yours is a little perplexing. If you continue to have trouble, I'm sure they will want to scope you down the line and take biopsies. Yeah there seem to be a battery of tests beyond the blood tests if things start to get worse. I hope you don't need any of them. Good luck!!

Hi thankyou for the response.. Yes I have been scoped both ways lol did the fecal tests and ultrasound. They did biopsy also. Nothing showed Crohn's or anything else I guess. They sent my blood to that one company and made the diagnosis. Whatever it is when i am not on the medicine I go 5-6 times a day. Have discomfort on my right side. They checked my gallbladder it was ok. They r just going by the results of the antibodies found in my blood for crohn's. Its so confusing

Pill cam test

Did you have a pill cam test? Sometimes Crohn's can hide in small intestines and scope will not reach that far. My pill cam was clear but premetius test came back with Crohn's and Colitis. :ybatty:
