Hello, new to the forum and not exactly sure if I even have Crohns as of yet, but I suspect I do.
Have been suffering from Hidradenitis Supperativa for 20+ years and had surgery to remove 35" of skin from groin in 2007.
Have been suffering with bouts of diarrhea since 2004, but have had serious bout these last 12 days (I am down 9 lbs or 4 kilos)
I had blood work and stool samples done last week, and my infectious disease doc has told me to get a colonoscopy.
I could also have colitis, as I was on clyndamycin and doxycycline about a month ago (to treat bad out break of Hidradenitis supperativa out break on my bum, breasts and back)
My sibilings have celiac dis and colitis respectively and my Mother has diverticulitis.
My symptoms are diarrhea and constipation, urgency to go but can't, thirsty, weight loss, pain in lower left abdomen on occcasion and last night pain in upper middle but slightly to left abdomen after eatting. My stomach just feels off. I have been gassy (both ends) and not very hungry (but have been consuming yogurt, plain pasta and potato here and again)
Im terrified of the colonoscopy....any insight? Advice" Thanks ever so much!

Hi Julesy

Welcome to the forum! Wow, you've sure had quite the time of it, haven't you?

A colonoscopy sounds like the next step for you given your symptoms. After all you've been through, the colonoscopy will not be much of anything. The hardest part is the prep that you do at home. It involves drinking some crap and getting ready to spend a lot of hours on the toilet until you're flushed right out. That's the hardest part. Be ready with your jello and broth, since they're the only things you can really 'eat.' And drink lots of water.

The actual colonoscopy is not bad. You will be sedated and won't feel much of anything. Hopefully, you'll get some clear results. For me, the hardest part is drinking the crap to clear out your system.

Seriously, after all you've been through, you'll be fine with the colonoscopy. If you like, do a search of 'colonoscopy' or 'colonoscopy prep'...there are a number of threads with advice and experiences.

When is your colonoscopy scheduled?

Kismet
