I'm new here but I've been dealing w/Crohn's since I was 16, I'm now 47. The past year has been horrible! My husband was diagnosed last year w/advanced glaucoma & is now legally blind. He was an over the road truck driver but because of this he had to come home & apply for SSD.

We have a 16 yr old daughter who has ADHD(I also have ADHD but, that dx didn't exist when I was a kid!) & a learning disability. The past year has been a nightmare & the stress of it all is killing me! I started a flare back in 10/15 & have gone down hill since then. Up until a few weeks ago, I was working 2 jobs just trying to survive but not doing very well!

In the past few months I've had 2 colonoscopies, a CT scan, & an upper endoscopy. My GI finally came to the conclusion that I needed to see a surgeon because he couldn't get the scope through either end because of scar tissue. A few weeks ago my daughter who aside from the ADHD is a healthy 16 yr old, came home with a stomach virus. She woke up at 4 or 5am puking her guts up & by noon was done & on the mend! I, on the other hand, started puking that afternoon & it went on for about 5 days. I became so dehydrated that I literally didn't pee for 4 days, I was so weak I could barely walk!

I ended up out of work for 3 weeks. When I was finally able to go back to work, my pt job told me that they had to put me in as a quit because I had been out so long, which was fine with me because I still was incapable of working both jobs. My ft job is where I have my benefits & all anyway! That was all just a couple of weeks ago, yesterday I finally had to go out on short term disability until I have my surgery because my job is way to physical & I'm just too weak & constantly nauseous to do my job & didn't want to hurt myself or anyone else!

Financially, this is a disaster for us & so now my stress level is even higher than it was! My husband is still waiting on disability & I have a waiting period of 1 week until mine kicks in. I'll probably be a regular here now that I'm home.

Thanks for reading & I look forward to talking to people who understand where I'm coming from! :sign0144:

Welcome to the forum, I'm sorry to hear things have been so rough for you lately. I know it's hard, but try not to let the stress get to you. I recently went through a resection surgery Feb 16th so I know how scary it can be. I'm 5 1/2 weeks since surgery and feeling really well. I've been back to work for about 2 weeks. Try to keep yourself as healthy as you can till your surgery and after surgery try and get up and move around as much as you can. It will help you heal faster.
