I am new to this site. I have been suffering for about 10 years but it was infrequent and I would chalk it up to the Indian meal being too spicy or too much to drink the night before. Then the symptoms became more frequent and people were telling me that perhaps it was my gall bladder..so I decided to get checked out. I was diagnosed in August. My symptoms are not that bad...burning sensation on my right side and diarrhea every about once a week. I was in denial at first...especially when I was put on Pentasa...8 horse pills a day...are you serious. He wanted to put me on steroids..I was not having it. I went for a second opinion...they did a CT with contrast and it seems that there are parts of my small intestines that are narrowing....so I am now on Entocort and Pentasa. I had a blood test to check my chromosomes to put me on this other drug and I cannot remember the name but the side effects scare me. Any and all advice and words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi Welcome to the forums.
So sorry you have gotten this lovely Diagnosis. I know a lot of the medicines for Crohn's are really, really scary. Take a look at the treatment area of the forums, there is a lot of really good information there about all the meds, pros and cons.

Remember no questions are off limits here as we all deal with some pretty taboo symptoms.

Hello Jewell and welcome to the Forum.

Sorry you had a diagnosis of Crohn's,
but you are on a couple of good drugs there
both of which I have been on.

The Entocort is a milder steroid than Prednisone
and I feel works very well.

Make yourself at home.
Any questions please ask away.

Hugs~Nancy

Hi Jewell, welcome. I'm also on Entocort and it works pretty well for me. Glad to hear that you have relatively mild symptoms, and I hope they stay mild. Like Nica said, feel free to ask about anything on here - nothing is TMI.

Hi Jewell
and welcome

I've been on Entocort too, it's quite mild compared to Pred. If your narrowing becomes serious, chances are you may have to try the Pred to control the inflammation.
I've been on Pentasa for 5 years now, 8 a day too. This acts like an anti inlammatory, a preventative to ward off future inflammation.
Good luck with your new meds, any questions, fire away!
Find out the name of the other med, and type it in the search area above, lots of info on all meds.
lotsa luv
