When I have a massive flare up I have pain in all sorts of places like my right side and chest. I already suffer from anxiety but when these other pains happen, it gives me more anxiety which prompts other symptoms such as neck pain and palpitations. I was wondering if anyone else has these issues? By the way, my Crohn's is located in my small intestine so I don't know if location has anything to do with where the pain occurs or not.

I wonder if you had a psychologist to talk to if that would help with the anxiety and alleviate some of the pain. Have you mentioned to your GI about the pain or palpitations?

I've been seeing a therapist for depression and anxiety for years even before I was diagnosed with Crohn's. I see a psychiatrist for medication. I never realized that the pain I've been having could be Crohn's related until I started reading other people's stories on this forum. I have a GI appointment the first week of March. I'm going to talk to the doctor about it then.

I have a lot of involvement in the colon and get chest pain and tightness usually in the mornings after waking up, a movement usually reduces the pain and tightness. Don't know if that helps, but I have always wondered if others get the same issue.

So my symptoms got worse and as able to see the doctor early. He put me on prednisone for a 6 week treatment. He has also started the process with my insurance companies to get me on Humira. I am particularly apprehensive about doing this sort of treatment. The side effects are scary. Does anybody know anything about Humira and the risks? How great are they? Also the nurse called me this morning and said my liver enzymes are high so I have to get an MRI on my liver. I don’t drink or smoke or anything so I don’t know why they are high like that. Any information would be helpful.

I was on Humira for a while and didn't have any side effects. There is a treatment section on here. Underneath that is a subsection called Humira. You might post this question on there also. Are you on any other medicine right now besides prednisone? I don't know but I wonder if that could be affecting your liver. I don't know that. Just wondering.

I am on several medications: Atenolol, lisinoprol, Wellbutrin, synthroid, and the doctor added Linzess and Protonix the other day. The thing is, even though Crohn’s patients aren’t supposed to, I’ve been taking naproxen because of back pain. Do you think that could’ve raised the liver levels?

Naproxen can affect the liver. I’m assuming your doctor knows that you’re taking it? Have you been tested for sacroiliac inflammation/Ankylosing Spondylitis? Some NSAIDS are easier than others on the gut. A trip to the rheumatologist might be a good idea—if you haven’t been yet. Easier said than done, I know. There are many times when I just don’t want to see another doctor.
