At the ripe age of 25, my liver has decided to give up. The past year, my ALTs and ASTs have steadily increased, and my liver has become even more fatty. I was diagnosed with NAFLD last summer. It also doesn't help that I have a lovely benign tumor sitting on my liver as well. I am supposed to be starting Humira as soon as my insurance approves it. I'm semi-uncomfortable going on something that is associated with liver issues, but at the same time my severe inflammation from uncontrolled Crohns may be causing the liver issues in the first place.

What are your numbers? I'm sorry to hear this. I have elevated liver enzymes from my drugs too. Are they suggesting anything to reduce them?

Both ALT and AST in the 300s. Last year I was diagnosed with Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, and now it's progressed (whether from disease or medication). I now have scarring, and need to do something before it gets worse.

Hi,

I have just been diagnosed with 'fatty liver' and i have the most awful pains in my stomach at the moment. I am waiting for blood results. I am in remission with my crohns and have had a right hemi. I am watching my diet too. Its the pain i have a problem with it hurts. How do you cope with it? I hope you are okay.

I'm currently in a flare, so it's so difficult to distinguish the pain, especially since my most diseased part is my ileum, followed by my rectum. The ileum pain combined with my liver pain have become so unbearable. Plus I'm not allowed any pain reliever due to almost all being liver toxic. I'm following up,with weekly blood tests. I have wil be having another scan in a month for my tumor in my liver, after starting Humira. I'm only 25 and just so scared. I have permanent damage of my liver already and at this point can't afford for it to get worse. Fatty liver is pretty common and easily reversible if that's any help

I was diagnosed with fatty liver about 2 years ago, it's just the past two months things have gone to hell. I am supposed to follow up with my doctor mid March, but with how I am feeling I may go much sooner

You should speak to your doctor about your concerns. Sometimes making a list before hand helps you to be able to concentrate on the answers. You can also ask your doctor for copies of your blood tests. I get tested monthly as I also have NAFLD and my doctors watch my levels. We also noticed that when I was in the hospital with an obstruction / flare, my levels went up to the 600's but dropped once it was over and run at about the low 60's. During the flare we stopped my methotrexate and re-started at a lower dose until my levels dropped. Then I went back to my normal dose.

Let us know if you have any other questions and we'll try to help.

I do have every single copy of blood work/ results from every procedure. My doc answered most of my questions, it's just at this point I'm in more pain then I expected, and have progressively felt worse and worse.
