not again

Oh guys im just so upset. Im a 17 yr old lad and i love playing soccer. Its my life, my passion, it gives me an outlet to just be with my friends and play the game I love. During the summer, a couple of weeks after I was diagnosed, I dislocated my left knee at training. I was just doing a simple warm up routine and out it popped. It took me about 12 weeks to recover and they were just the longest weeks of my life.

Ok I get over that and go back training in mid November. I feel good and strong. In the last month or so I have started humira and i feel like my life was getting back on track. Then today we had a match and everything goes wrong again. Im on the field two minutes, go up for a header and when I land back on the ground my right knee just pops out. I just couldnt believe it. How could this happen again. After working so hard to get fit and everything, im devastated. Soccer is the one thing that takes my mind of this stupid disease and where I just feel normal. Could my knee injuries be linked to the chrons? Anyone else experience injuries like this?

Thaks guys for listening. This really is the one place I can go and let off some steam.

I don't have this myself, but I know a boy who has Crohn's and he also has hypermobility syndrome in his legs- basically he has too much range of movement in his joints. I think it comes with a higher risk of dislocation. Doctors are saying the hypermobility is linked to his Crohn's. Maybe you have something similar?

Ya I will have to say this to my GI the next time I see her. I have only been getting these injuries since I was diagnosed with chron's. I had many bad knocks and bangs before but I was always able to get back up and on with the game.

Hope your knee is feeling better - glad the Humira is working for you!

Thanks Amy. Ya the knee is feeling better and is not swollen anymore. The only downer is Im not allowed play soccer untill next August for some stupid insurance reason. The insurance company for the club said they cant insure me again untill the new season begins. I hate insurance companies!!!

Hi! I was born with bad knees. I could not finish reading your post as my knees started hurting out of sympathy! I hope you are doing better now.
Good luck,
Michele
