So its been a few weeks since Ive posted, things have been going ok. I got my second Remicade treatement two weeks ago, and ofcours right after getting it I got a nasty cold. Im still tapering off the pred and only have 20 mg more to tapper. With the holidays its so hard not to eat everything in sight....especially since I havnt been able to eat all year. So on Christmas I indulged....and well....I spent several hours in the bathroom. Everything from horrible stomach cramps, to blood, to explosive D....you name it....Ive gone through it. That was Christmas night....went on most of yesterday and is calming down again....but still not right. So Ive developed a sore on my rectum....I thought it was a hemmie...but I think Im wrong. Keeps bleeding, and is a tad open....like a small blister or something that has torn open. It calms down if Im not on the loo....but the minute I have to go again...that thing opens back up. So, what do I do?? Im on Prednisone...Im doing Remicade, Im trying to use tucks wipes....but OUCH!! That burns....I tried some diaper cream...didnt do much. Any suggestions...what it is, what to do?? I dont go back to GI until late next week, and dont want to see him any sooner than that. Hopefully things are calming down and this annoying little sore will go away.

It sounds to me like either a fissure or the opening of a fistula. If it is very close to the anus, I might think fissure. If an inch away, maybe a fistula.
Unfortunately, both not great. I guess I would choose the fissure if given the horrible option.
Have you tried the calmoseptine? Very soothing. I hope you can get some relief soon.

Metanium works well, if used before you go to the toilet it can also act a bit as a barrier to reduce discomfort and then reapply afterwards as well.

I feel for you Bev...I was on the toilet about 5 mins after finishing xmas lunch (who knew things could get thru that fast!). If you think it's a fissure, I found rectogesic worked pretty quick.

When I have bouts of severe D, my bum is a ring of fire! Diarrhea is very acidic. I believe you have a hemmie, I have one too. Is it actually on your anus? and like Joe says or an inch or so away?
Mine bleeds and is very sore and opens with loads of D. It calms when I don't go.
I use Germoloids or Preparation H. I like Calmoseptine too but it just cools it, whereas the others reduce the swelling.
