OMG. :) I heard back about the stem cell transplant and I qualified for an evaluation!!!! Im so excited and I hope this is something I can do and I'm not just getting my hopes up. THANKS SO MUCH to Mr. Ziggy and effdee for all the help and support!!! :)

the date isn't set yet. i will be traveling to chicago so it is a bit away from home for me. i should find out this week when my appointments will be. :)

It's a pretty exciting treatment option. We started a stem cell megathread that I haven't had a chance to update with good info yet, but it does link to some awesome threads on this forum full of great info. If your curiosity gets piqued and you start researching it, will you please reply to that thread with good articles/research you come across?

I read some of the information David linked to, all I can say is: Why is this not a standard treatment for patients of CD!!!??? If people are having complete long term remi... Oh yeah.. Big Pharma can't profit from us if we are healthy.:ybatty:

I hope that what you are doing is going to pave the way for the rest of us. It seems to me that stem cells could be harvested much in the way that blood is. My neighbors son is fighting lymphoma right now, and they just did some sort of stem cell therapy for him. He is also showing improvement (now). It involved some serious chemo, which is why the SC were harvested. I guess that what they are doing for CD patients is very similar to what my neighbor is going through.

Good luck to the OP in her evaluation. I hope that you are given this opportunity! Especially if it means a life free from this monster!:hug:
 
thank you everyone :) im so excited. i got a call yesterday and i will be traveling for my evalution the week of october 17. i guess that is when they will redo the tests and what not. and i will be starting a blog so those of you that want can join in the experience and i hope that someday this treatment can be for everyone!!
 
Wow! October 17th (my birthday, if I might add) is right around the corner. How exciting!

just wanted to update everyone!! i will be going october 26 for my evaluation. i will have a ct enterography, labs, and then see the 2 doctors. i will start a blog and post the link here today for anyone who is interested :)
