On and Off aza within a week....

Hi there

Wondering if anyone suffered bad D when first taking Aza? I started aza at end of July but by the end of my first week I ended up in hospital and had to stay there for a week.... the reason being very bad D. My Consultant believes this was a normal flare rather than having anything to do with the aza, however I believe different..... for my first 2 days in hosp the ward didnt have the aza therefore I did not take it for 48 hours and tada.... no D. I tool the the aza on the 3rd night and had a horredous nite in terms of running to toilet and severe pain all night. After this episode I refused the aza until I got speaking to consulatant again. We agreed for me to continue on steriods and I he plans to start me on inflaximab soon

Did anyone else suffer this sort of reaction early on when starting this med??

I had this same reaction and had to be taken off of it. Pain was terrible and so much diarrhea. Don't like thinking about it.

My diarrhea was the worst about 2 weeks into the treatment. Refused to continue it until I was sure that it was the cause. It finally returned to """normal""".
