Honestly I feel better. I thought it would take longer to kick in, but it seems to be working? Another wonderful thing is that even my joints aren't hurting so much now. I know this drug is supposed to only target the small bowel but it seems to be working everywhere?

I just started entocort and still on 20 mg pred. I don't know how that is going to work. Did you take both at one time?

Entocort is a very powerful topical steroid. As I understand it, Entocort is actually much stronger than oral pred. Up to 20% is documented as systemically absorbed so it is not surprising that your joints feel better too.

Glad it is helping.

What's your GI's treatment plan?

I was on 40mg or do of pres and now take capsules a day of entocort. I feel
so much better on entocort than I did on prednidone.

I just started taking 3 pills of 3mg entocort on Saturday. It hasn't kicked in yet, I am actually having some wicked pain today. But I'm hoping by Wednesday I will be noticing it.

I had 10 days of a sample because my GI warned to see if it worked, and it did. But their office didn't realize I didn't have a prescription, so I was without it for a week and I think that's why I've been having pain since Thursday.

Patricia56 is correct it is a stronger potent steroid, but is not absorbed as much as pred. Steroids will usually give you joint pain relief for a bit, until the disease causes enough damage that is. Try to find another medication besides steroids for your long term maintenance of Crohns. Vonnie I have taken both before, they usually try to wean you off the pred onto the Entocort.

I am starting to have swelling in my legs and feet and my skin feels stiff; I'm guessing from the pred and entocort. I don't know if that is normal as this is new; within the last 3 days or so.

The prednisone was a horrible experience for me. Hopefully they ween you off of that entirely and try just entocort . I cant vouch for entocort since ive been on it only a month, but prednisone made me feel like an old man with serious problems.

My doctor told me that entocort is a more localized steroid, thus will not effect my joints, as the pred seriously hit my knees among with many other problems. Long time use of prednisone is not good.
