On our way for remicade appt.

Heading out soon for our 3rd Remicade appt. I'm worried though that he hasn't gained any more weight since last infusion 4 weeks ago ( I just put him on the scale at home) and I'm certain he hasn't grown. And he's had loose BMs this week. Is this cause for concern that remicade isn't working or am I jumping the gun, is it still too soon to tell? I'm just so anxious to see some results!

It can take time, I wouldn't rule out remicade not being helpful that fast.

Agree with NGNG I wouldn't rule it out yet. Are you scheduled for the 8 week wait after this one? We did not make 8 weeks and had to go to 6 weeks and keep adjust dosage. We started at 5ml/kg and adjusted to 7.5ml/kg every 6 weeks then we did 10ml/kg every 6 weeks for 2 infusions and then we bumped out to every 8 weeks, just had his 3rd infusion on that schedule and so far so good.
Hang in there! Hope infusion goes well today and he is starving afterwards and eating you out of house and home.

Yeah. It took o a good six months before she started showing visual signs of improvement. Doc saw the signs in labs so we kept with it. Actually little weight gain until almost a year later and then whammo. Try to hang in there. The intestines heal on their own time not mommy time. Frustrating!

Took us 3 infusions before she felt better and 4-5 infusions before she felt much better. We did have to increase the dose and shorten the interval between infusions.

There are some kids that it helps immediately, but for others it takes time. It takes the gut a while to heal as crohnsinct said - we saw significant healing 8 months later when we did scopes.

Don't worry too much, I know that's easier said than done!

Thanks. We are home now. Blood work looked same as last time, he did gain 2 lbs, no vertical growth yet....I'll try to be patient

If you are on the 3rd dosage you are still on the boosters. Give it more time. I know it is hard to wait, but I have found Remicade to be the fastest acting than all the other biologics if they are going to work. Crossing fingers it works well for him!
