Hi, I was diagnosed with Crohn's this last February. Before they figured out the diagnosis, the docs thought I had appendicitis and put me on Cipro and Flagyl which gave me thrush on my tongue. They then prescribed 10 days of Nystatin swish and swallow (did nothing) followed by 4 days of Diflucan (did nothing) followed by nearly two months of Clotrimazole touches 5x/day (also did nothing). I've nearly completed a 2 week course of Diflucan, which has decreased the thrush somewhat, but it's still there and I don't anticipate it going away within the next two days. I'm worried when I stop the Diflucan that it will just increase again-- fortunately the thrush is not painful for me but it has an unpleasant sticky sensation.

I'm on a low residue diet for a flare currently, as well as Budesonide, so I can't work on it "from the inside out" as recommended by most candida websites. I'm taking two FloraJen3 probiotics per day. I don't know what else to do. Help!

So I finished my Diflucan and called my regular doctor to see what else I can do. They told me to contact my GI's office. So I did, and the GI said to call my regular doctor. Frustrating! I asked for a culture last time I was at my GP and they said that it wasn't helpful because the culture would just come back as "yeast."

I'm beginning to think maybe I have geographic tongue? But it's odd that it started right with my first course of antibiotics. I wish someone could help me.

Antibiotics can trigger it.
I got it with my first pregnancy 5 years ago but it went away after the baby was born. I got it again with my last pregnancy 3 years ago and it wont go away now, I've done pro-biotics, drank tea regularly, medications, etc. If I do them all it helps but it comes back very easily.

Warm salt water gargling is also helpful. Supposedly the salt is a less than ideal environment for the yeast to thrive.

Hello, have you tried coconut oil pulling? I know it may sound nuts but it might help. Use organic and look it up for how to. Please post your results if you do try it.

Coconut oil has been mentioned to poke holes in 'yeast' and making it not able to thrive.

Hope this might help you.
