Hi all I'm having a rough time of it so sorry in advance for this rant lol
I'm still getting alot of pain even on maximum dose tramadol, paracetamol and buscopan and constant diarrhoea . It's not severe enough to go to hospital just really doing my head in at the mo, I need something for the diarrhoea coz I'm exhausted but imodium doesn't work!
What can I do for some relief ? I'm having alot of hot baths an hot water bottles still not much relief .
My gp is not very helpful especially not with pain killers he is one of those that hates giving them out an I don't want to beg

do you not a doctor that you can see...my gp just sends me to see my doctor in hospital if i have any problems...maybe you should put the foot down and tell him to help you or your going to get a different doctor...maybe try a liquid diet for a while it'll be easier on the belly...

I'm already on the liquid diet having ensure plus and build up soups . I've stopped my iron tablets incase it's them causing more of a problem ( I thought they constipated people mind lol) I was on codeine before for the diarrhoea and pain but I was at maximum dose and they just didn't work for me after a while taking them ( tolerant) so I've stopped them an told not to take imodium which don't work anyway. I don't understand y I haven't been given something for the diarrhoea I know I shouldn't block myself up but I can't leave the frigging house that's no good an I'm exhausted from it , ever bone in my body is aching aswell and I haven't got the flu or a cough or sneeze I don't get it ! although I do understand with my pain meds it will take a while of me telling my doc to bloody help me lol to get some relief !
What's the best pain med to ask to try with still taking 400mg tramadol and 8x paracetamol, in hospital I had iv morphine but seriously it made me hurt worse an then oromorph that was useless also.
Any ideas ? Has anyone tried lomotil for the diarrhoea ?

Hi Jenny, I take Lomotil for the d and it works well for me. Sometimes on bad days I need to take more than one Lomotil, but usually one pill is sufficient to stop me up for the rest of the day. I find that if I take it for 3 or more days in a row, I get pretty constipated. So if you do take it, try not to overdo it. Good luck, hope you are feeling better soon.

I have never had pain meds, other then when I was in the hospital for crohns. My pain level hangs between a 5-10 most days. My doctor says that pain meds are not a viable option for IBD ( oral ones anyway).. it wrecks havoc on your GI tract so he says it makes it worse.. and since its constant there is the addiction issue to be worried about.
But Lomotil about the best thing for slowing down the poo.. hope it works for you.

Hi Jenny

there is a difference between over the counter codeine and prescribed Codeine Phosphate, ask your doc about it, it stops diarrhea in it's tracks, knocks you out at bedtime and gives you lots of relief!
good luck
