Pain Getting Worse

I've been out of the hospital for about two weeks now after having a flare. I was put on tapering doses of pred, and I've already noticed a pretty big change in the amount of pain I'm experiencing since going from 50mg to 45mg. When I got out I was pain-free for a few days, then I would get occasional cramping which is only natural considering I wasn't allowed to eat in the hospital. Now, however, I'm back in a state of constant cramping, and I'm scheduled to go down to 40mg of pred on Saturday.

Is it possible that such a small decrease in dose is causing me to have more pain, or is it all in my head? I've been watching what I eat, but I'm still in a position where I don't really know what foods set me off, so that hasn't been helping much. Has anyone else experienced a sharp change in their pain levels so soon after tapering pred?

It's definitely possible. I was on 60mg of pred for a month before they tapered me. Then it was down to 55mg for 2 weeks, 45 mg for 2 weeks, etc. till I was done. I was on it for about 6 months.

Yeah I agree with Cindy
If it was me, I would go back up to 50mg for a month, and start again, slowly tapering down, pred needs at least a month on high doses to blitz the inflammation. speak to your doc about it, you may still have active inflammation that needs high doses.
good luck
