Is there anyone who can help me out here? I have been having sharp pains in the left side of my torso, under my ribcage, and they seem to be getting worse, along with my typical abdominal cramps. I see my doctor this Friday and I am going to ask him but i was wondering if anyone has had this problem or know anything that could be causing it.

Thanks,
Brandon

I don't know what it could be unless you could have strained a muscle in your ribcage somehow. If it gets too bad I would go to the ER. Good luck my friend

k, thank you. I did some research and saw that where my pain is, is also where the spleen is located. Is it common to have problems with that having Crohn's?

I had a similar pain last year, my consultant said it could have been an abcess on the wall of the bowel.

I had a CAT scan to check, but it came out clear.

I haven't had the pain for a while now, but it was worrying at the time.

Pain in that area can also be caused by too much gas. Gas pain can be quite painful.

I think it may just be really hard gas or something then, because i have done some research and it seems that if it was anything serious (gallstones, pancreatitis, spleen issues) it would be a constant thing, but its usually worse when and after I eat. Any advice on how to remedy it?

If gas is the problem, then diet changes might be able to help. Dairy products can cause gassiness, so can beans and some other vegetables. If you look up gassy food or something like that on google, you'll probably be able to find a nice list.

It sounds like gas. Gas, especially when mixed with already tender crohn's diseased intestines can be agonizing. It's really an underestimated problem.

Take simethicone. Sold as Gas-X and such. It's a chemical that prevents the formation of bubbles. Without the ability to form bubbles your gas will not be able to exert much pressure as it will just conform to the shape of your intestines as it normally does when you're not having gas pain. Simethicone is not absorbed into your body so it's pretty much harmless. So much so that I believe it's the only thing you can give to newborns without a prescription. It really does wonders and, since it's a liquid in a very thin gel cap, drinking a good sized glass of water to flush it down it should travel to the trouble spots quite quickly.
