Hey everyone! Hope you all are having pain free day. I have a question. I have Crohn's and Interstitial Cystitis. That's just my 2 biggest problems. My doctor is leaving for admin position and he is going to refer me to pain management doctor. I will still have my gastro doctor but he doesn't deal with pain management. My question is, is this a good thing? Do PM doctors help anyone on here? I'm a little scared but my doc seemed encouraging. Just needed opinions. Thanks you guys. You all are the best!!

hey kristi
im actually just exploring this realm of PM docs myself. am seeing one this friday, so i cant offer any advice yet, but ill let you know how helpful it seems!
my problem is crohnic wounds from surgery, and my gi wants to get me on something more "steady" than percocet if that makes sense.
will see what happens, good luck to you

Thanks kelly. I hope your appointment goes good. Keep me posted. PM anytime. Maybe this is the answer to both our prayers. Here if you need anything.
Thanks again!!

I see a pain management specialist and she is very helpful. When we first met in January I really wasn't very stable at all and she helped me get off a lot of opiod pain medication and onto something that would hopefully be safer long term.

Unfortunately it wasn't enough and in April, whilst in hospital, I was put back on morphine. In myself I am happier as things are more controlled although it's not the ideal answer. But they monitor my condition and hope when I get back on some more powerful Crohn's drugs that I can come off the morphine.

They have also offered me someone to talk to more recently, about a more holistic way of living with pain and I did take that up. It's not trying to take the pain away just help you see it in a different light and maybe cope better.

All in all it has been a positive experience, my next follow up is at the start of September but I don't think much will change at that appointment. Good luck to the both of you with your appointments too!
