I am a 27 year old single mother of a 17 month old baby girl. Diagnosed in 2008, under the knife in 2009, and in pain everyday since. I have Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. I'm considered severe crohns, currently on remicade every 4 weeks and currently waiting on approval to begin Entyvo. I'm hoping someone can relate to my incredibly frustrating situation with doctors not prescribing pain medication - I've worked with 3 different gastro doctors within a 10 year period who will not prescribe me pain medication. I am seeking suggestions or advice on alternatives in order to find a doctor (MD or alternative professional) who will take my extensive Crohn's disease history into consideration so that I am taking an appropriate medication to actually provide my LIFE some relief. Thank you for comments/suggestions/advice - I've had it with my doctors telling me to stuff a steroid down my throat and call it a day as if I haven't already tried that for years!!

I have been on tramadol and before that cocodamol but that is also due to my fibromyalgia and when i get pain in my lungs. I was taken off cocodamol and onto tramadol by my GI due to constipation. But honestly i dont think theyve ever even considered pain management. I would maybe ask them for a refferal, if not ask your GP. Youd think with such strong medication theyd understand you may need painkillers.

Xander,

I'm with Ron on this one. Ask for a referral to a pain specialist. Then you get taken seriously. Tell your GP that you need pain relief. Try to explain how you struggle. As soon as I got seen by a pain specialist things got better in a hurry!

Hang in there and don't give up or you will suffer in silence.

all the best,

cmack
