I have a quick question...
Does anyone else feel fine most of the time, and then suddenly ha e severe mid-abdominal cramping, nausea, watery, loose stools, an sometimes vomitting, and the chills sometimes to?

I keep thinking that I have the flu...this has happened 4 times in the last 2 months. It comes suddenly...other than back pain that seems to start a day before. And it's typically done in 24 hours.

Any ideas what might be going on? I'm wondering if it's from eating something that I shouldn't have or if there might be another reason for it. Is this common?

Thanks!

Not common, however when I eat something I shouldn't, I sometimes get intense abdominal pain. I keep codeine at hand to reduce it, otherwise I probably would end up vomiting from it, and often have loose stools after (though not diarrhoea, possibly because of the codeine). So yeah, to me it sounds like you might have narrowing or ulcerations or something that is being irritated by certain foods. Can you remember what you ate? High fibre and indigestible stuff like nuts, seeds or skins was what hurt my ulcers most.

If I were you I would make an appointment with your GI to discuss it. In my case, the pain and vomiting were my main symptoms at diagnosis, and it was caused by ulcers. But if ever it doesn't stop within 24 hours, you need to get to hospital because that could be a full blockage.

Hope my writing makes sense, I'm rather tired tonight!

Your symptoms sound very similar to mine. Rebecca gave good advice about monitoring how long the symptoms last. I had a mild blockage and that went on for longer than 24 hours. Even though it wasn't bad, I noticed an increase in discomfort and the nasty symptoms.

Thanks for the advice! My bout yesterday only lasted 6 hours...I'm not completely sure what to do about though...
