I have Crohn's. I'm 21 diagnosed 10 years ago. I have had way too many surgeries which has left me in a lot of pain regularly due to scar tissue and adhesions. Being in remission, my GI has recently referred me to a pain specialist. I have been smoking marijuana regularly for pain control recently. I live in Indiana where medical marijuana use is still illegal. I've been told that I will be drug tested at this appointment which I am not against. I don't want to lie to my doctor about my use of this. I've also been told that if I do test positive for thc that I'll have to complete drug classes or rehab before I'll get any pain medication. I am not opposed to stopping nor do but I would really like to have a pain management plan before I do so because it honestly is what gets me through the day recently. I am asking for opinions on what to do as far as approaching this subject with my pain specialist. I do NEED pain management. I don't want to hinder the process of getting it under control.

I am in severe pain through adhesions. I went to a pain specialist a while back but it didn't work for me. They put me on lyrica which made me feel sick and I couldn't bear being treated as a body with pain which I can't separate from the illness or my relation to the illness. Here in the UK there is no mandatory testing in order to be prescribed pain meds. I can't understand it. I ended up badgering my GI who eventually relented and prescribed oramorph which I take only when the pain is very severe. I am waiting for medical marijuna to be approved in the UK.
