I am having such painful cramping today :sign0085: does anyone know of a way to ease the pain of the cramping?? I have had colitis for 16 years now, just recently diagnosed with Crohns (tho my dr suspects I've had it fir a bit now), and I've always had these painful cramps. I just figured I'd ask all of you what you do to ease them. Thanks for the help :thumleft:

What medications are you taking? Getting the condition under control tends to ease the pain. While waiting for meds to start working you can take a warm bath, use a heating pad or for me something that applies a little pressure and heat at the same time like a heavy teddy bear or a kitty.

Thanks for the advice Crabby. I am currently not on meds for Crohns. I recently found out I have it. I go to my doctor for my post surgery follow up next Thursday, so hopefully we will discuss things further. I am hoping to get things under control soon! I will put my heating pad on my belly with my neck pillow on top of it to apply pressure. The cramps are still there and still painful. I hope I can get some relief! :frown:

Stephanie, I have taken some pain meds today. It helped out some, but now I had to take more because the cramps are back and painful again. I am at work, but as soon as I get home I am grabbing the heating pad!! lol Thank you for your advice!

Hi have you tried spasmonol tablets I found they really helped with the cramps also in the past have found buscopan to be good but don't take too many as they will bung you up

Librax (2 to 3) calms the cramps and relieves the body's natural anxiety when having symptoms like that. However, it is only good for minor cramps. If you need to, combine it with a pain pill...( 1-2 Lortab 10-500 ) should do it. If the cramps still will not go away, try Symax Duo Tabs (get name brand as the generic does not work at all). They are essentially 12 hour hyoscamine pills with one part that dissolves immediately and the other that sticks around. They will give you cotton mouth. Whatever you do, do not split them or you will overdose on atropine ( your body converts hyoscamine into atropine to smooth /calm the muscles along your intestinal tract ). I hope this helps
