Hello All,

My name is Salvatore Barcia from Staten Island. I've been diagnosed with a complicated and severe case of Crohn's Disease since September 2011. The Crohn's triggered Ankylosing Spondylitis, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease and reoccurrence CDIFF which were treated by two fecal transplants. I've been hospitalized some 30 times since 2011 because of my case. Now that I told you a little about my story, I'd like to share something with you.

I have a phone conference scheduled for tomorrow with a representative from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. I'm trying to start a program where IBD patients can register to be paired with another IBD patient who's willing to mentor them. The paired patients can share stories and ask questions via email, telephone or even in person; whatever they choose! There are many patients out there who need somebody to relate to and we're going to make this possible! When I was newly diagnosed I was mentally suffering big-time until I was paired with another IBD patient who really helped me. Until this day I reach out to fellow IBD patients when I'm having a bad day or even when I have a specific question. Also, I mentor fellow IBD patients every day whether its via email, telephone or even visiting them in the hospital.

This is something that's still in the works. We're not sure if it's something that will start with the New York/New Jersey Chapter then grow, or start nationally. If you're willing to help me start this program please email me or call me. I'm going to need as much help as I can get.

Thank you!
