Hi, I’m new to the forum, so I’m not sure where to post this. Over the weekend I took my son to get him some fried rice at Panda Express, which he loves (went through drive-thru) I was in for a shock when we got home, as they are now putting whole pieces of CORN in, mixed with the rice! I called to see why, and they said due to the shortage of eggs they are now trying out corn instead of the egg. Corn doesn’t even make sense, maybe cause it’s yellow!? My son cannot have corn! I mean why not try tofu? I was so upset.

Just thought I’d post so no one else would be surprised and accidentally eat the corn, if you can't have it. I’m still in shock.

Was it just a short term thing? Like, are they just waiting for the next shipment of eggs, or did they decide to nix it? That's so lame.

"Maybe cause it's yellow!?"

Haha made laugh so hard...I would be trying to figure out the same thing.

Just in case anyone is curious, I emailed Panda on the 10th or so, and received this reply back today, cool that they took the time to answer:

"Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We value all comments and suggestions from our guests.

We apologize for any inconvenience due to our recent recipe modification and menu changes. Panda has temporarily modified our fried rice recipe and temporarily discontinued hot and sour soup due to an industry-wide liquid egg shortage. We continually strive to exceed customer expectations by providing great food to our Guests. Once this temporary shortage is over we will return to our original menu offerings. We currently have no time table, but plan to return to our original recipes as soon as possible. Until then, yes the fried rice will contain corn.

Thank you again for contacting the Panda Restaurant Group.

Sincerely,

Daniel W.

We can't just leave the egg out? What is the corn adding to the fried rice...just sayin'

good to know even though i do not eat corn, lol
fried rice is a snap to make ~
organic white or brown ~ first fry/brown after washed/dried in organic coconut oil/unflavored, this will make rice fluffy and not stick together.
next measure as directed
a rice cooker is awesome for perfect rice
when rice is done, give unflavored organic coconut oil (a good fat/mtc oil) small amount in skillet and fry, add organic scrambled egg, organic green onion, organic peas/carrots...and meat if you want. I also use tamari not soy or braggs liquid aminos. (awesome for stir fry vegies too)

hope you can give it a try, you both might enjoy it
cheers
