I was so sad to log on this afternoon and see over 40 people viewing the parents of kids with IBD thread. While I would like to think that these are all children that were diagnosed long ago and whose parents are just finding crohnsforum, I know full well that there are newly diagnosed children (and worse yet, undiagnosed) out there. No wonder I can't keep up with all of the threads any longer!
So to all of the new parents whose stories I haven't had a chance to hear, welcome!! Crohnsforum has been an invaluable resource for me, educationally and emotionally.I am sorry that you all had to find your way here :rosette2: but hope that your experience is as wonderful as mine has been.
I would like to thank all of the parents who were so supportive in my early days...you saved me a TON in therapy bills! :thumright: (Well, you and some wine )
Izzi was diagnosed two years ago next month, and I want you all to know that there can be a light at the end of the tunnel. She was facing a subtotal colectomy in August when we found the drug that worked for her six months ago. Her symptoms are minimal at the moment. We are so fortunate.
There came a time when I felt that her disease had been ruling our lives, and I felt the need to step away from the forum. It was a much needed respite, but as I returned I realized that I have something to offer...that shoulder that *I* needed not very long ago. Our experience in dealing with this disease. I hope I can help just one person the way so many helped me over the past two years. It meant the world to me.
If you've made it this far, so sorry for the long winded tirade lol! Hoping as Crohns awareness week winds down and we begin a new year that we are so much closer to finding a cure...
